    After the death of Ladislas in 1414, Jeanne II designates heirs successively as Alfonso V and Louis III of Anjou, which will be the source of dynastic wars. Alfonso V, King of Aragon and Sicily since 1416, emerged victorious from these wars, retrieves the kingdom of Naples in June 1442 and made a triumphal entry into the city February 26, 1443. It was originally the meeting of Naples and Sicily, thereby forming the first kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Naples was established as the capital at the expense of Gela, who was stripped of most of its mint. The unification of Naples and Sicily did not survive Alfonso V died in 1458.
