    Description

In the 60’s, the counter-culture epicenter was San Francisco. From 1966-69, the most powerful sound in Bay Area top 40 radio was “the big 610, KFRC”. Programmed by the legendary KHJ man Bill Drake, this “Boss Radio” station was blaring out of every mustang and bug in town.
Very little remains of that era in radio; a few air checks and a promotional LP. Otherwise KFRC was pretty skimpy in the swag department. Which makes this item even more special and audacious!
A stash bag, made of suede and used to carry cannabis, a stack of rolling papers and a roach clip, all in an inconspicuous spot on one’s person. Yeah, it could carry tobacco... (if that’s what you were holding during the summer of love, lol) or marbles or whatever you choose. But we all know what it was for.
On the outside, the KFRC “monolith” logo used by the station during its boss years 1966-69. Really cool! I’ve heard these were given out during the Monterey pop festival in 1967, but I can’t confirm.
Anyway, this one appears new, unused and in great condition. I’m parting out my collection of radio memorabilia, and I’m offering it for a limited time to someone who loved Bay Area radio as much as I did. When it’s gone, it’s gone.
May the spirit of Haight-Ashbury burn brightly (cough cough)
